About LightningBlocks
A browser voxel world with Bitcoin Lightning in the loop. Build, explore, hide and find sats — and let payments change the game in real time.
What it is
LightningBlocks is a multiplayer voxel sandbox you play in the browser — similar in feel to games like Minecraft: break blocks, place blocks, move through a shared world. On top of that, Bitcoin Lightning payments can trigger live gameplay events.
The voxel world
In the world you can:
- Build and break — shape the terrain and structures
- Explore — move through the map and see what others are doing
- Gather and craft — collect materials and use them (details in the tutorial)
If you know voxel sandboxes, the basics will feel familiar. See the tutorial for controls.
Hide and find sats
Sats are part of the world, not only a checkout screen. You can hide sats for others to discover — and search for sats others have left. That loop sits next to building and exploring as a core reason to play.
In the game, sats show up in three forms:
- Coins (items) — the basic unit. Your inventory shows how many you carry. Select a stack for your hotbar; hold Shift while selecting to choose how many to throw. Thrown coins land in the world with a small label showing the sat amount, and their colour reflects the value — so larger stashes are easier to spot.
- Sat voxels (blocks) — place sats in the crafting grid to craft Bitcoin-themed blocks. Where and how many sats you use determines the colour tier of the block. Place them like any other voxel; break them to recover the sats inside.
- Satoshi Chest — a chest that holds sats directly. Deposit sats to stash them, or open a chest you find to withdraw what is inside.
For controls and crafting UI, see the tutorial.
Playing with others
LightningBlocks is shared space. You can meet other players in the world, chat, and pass items around (for example by throwing them).
House rules: How to behave. Finding sats other players hid is part of the game. Using bugs to take someone else’s money is not. Keep the world playable for others.
Bitcoin Lightning in the game
You can play without paying. When you (or someone else) wants to trigger a paid action, a Lightning invoice is created, you pay with any Lightning wallet, and the game reacts as soon as it settles. You can also use ingame balance or an account LNBits wallet for faster payments — see How you pay.
Why this matters for games: Bitcoin in games.
Tips — change the world with Lightning
Tips is the Lightning interaction page for LightningBlocks. From /tips anyone can pay invoices to interact with the world — for example buy sky billboards, tip other players, change the daytime, or send global messages.
You do not need every Tips action to start playing; open Tips when you want to affect the world from outside the game client.
Livestream your session
Stream LightningBlocks on Twitch or YouTube. Viewers can use Tips to pay for actions that change your game. You can keep most of the sats spent when you set up receiving in your account / ingame Lightning settings.
